This initial version of The Open Tab does not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or newsletter sign-up forms.

When you browse

The server processes page requests to deliver the site. Your hosting provider may retain operational access logs. External links have their own privacy practices.

Your reading preferences

Saved article identifiers and reading preferences stay in local storage on this browser. They are not sent to us or synced between devices. Clearing site data in your browser removes them.

Newsroom access

The private newsroom uses an access token held in memory for the current page session. It is not stored in browser local storage.

Website analytics

Our production website uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits and popular pages without analytics cookies. Vercel processes page paths, referring sites, browser and device information, and approximate location to provide aggregate reports. Search terms and URL fragments are removed before page addresses are sent. Saved stories and reading preferences are not sent to analytics.

Future services

This notice will be updated before introducing personalised advertising or subscriptions.
